Product & Fabric Care
General Upholstery Maintenance and Cleaning:
Maintenance
Things to avoid: Sunlight: It causes almost everything to fade.
Careful: Don’t remove cushion covers for separate dry cleaning or washing, even though they do have zippers. Do not use bleach or any tumble method cleaning service as this may destroy the backing of the fabric or shrink or damage the upholstery fabric. Don’t scrub your fabric as this can cause unrepairable damage such as fading or thinning of fabric.
Heat: Don’t place your upholstery near fireplaces, radiators, or heaters. Could be a fire hazard.
Cleaning
Vacuum or light brushing is the best way to remove dust and dirt.
Spot clean using the foam only from a water-based cleaning agent such as a mild detergent or non-solvent upholstery shampoo product. Apply foam with a small soft brush using a circular motion. Vacuum when dry. Recommend testing a small area before proceeding. For any stain, the best recommendation is to use a professional furniture cleaning service to be on the safe side.
For mohair, linen or silk, call a professional furniture cleaner.
Leather Care:
DISCLAIMER
Leather is a natural product produced as a byproduct of animal hides. Due to the life- style of the animals, leather will always have natural markings such as brands, burns, bites, scars, wrinkles and abrasions. The natural markings are not defects but rather are the signs of quality top grain leather.
Natural markings and dye lot variations are not defects. It is BATCH policy to accept no returns on product for any reason where the cause is due to the natural nature of this product.
Leather Maintenance and Cleaning
BATCH Leather upholstery should require little or no care under most normal household conditions. It is the most durable and strongest material used for upholstery. Although remarkably durable, leathers will stain or change in character from food and liquid spills. To maintain the beauty of your leather upholstery, check our maintenance and cleaning recs below.
Maintenance
Things to avoid: Sunlight, It causes almost everything to fade.
Don’t use: Saddle soap, oils, detergents, furniture polish, abrasive cleaning solvents or ammonia should never be used to clean upholstery leather. For the most part, spills can be cleaned with a quick and gentle wipe. Excessive wiping or rubbing can damage the surface.
Heat: Don’t place your leather upholstery near fireplaces, radiators, heaters or, as noted above, sunlight. Heat can dry the leather out allowing cracking and other undesired damage.
Cleaning
Use distilled water and suds from soap that is free of harsh detergents, dyes & hardeners such as Neutrogena on a dampened sponge, lightly wipe over the spill areas. Rinsing is not necessary as neither the soap nor distilled water contain solids. Pat dry with a clean towel and walk away.
